Wall Covering

2010
Artificial plant leaves, spray paint, spacers, screws, velcro

Walls 1 & 2: 12'h X 15.5'w X 3"d; Wall 3: 11'6"h X 15'w X 3"d; Wall 4: 8'3"h X 15'w X 3"d

Artificial plant leaves take the shape of nature but in actuality there is nothing natural about them. They are made of plastics and other synthetic materials, dyed and painted to look natural, so they may take the place of real plants in our homes and offices maintenance free. I used fluorescent red paint on the backs so a red shadow glows from each leaf and then arranged them in a wallpaper-like pattern to heightening their artificiality and purely decorative value, while also utilizing the wall beyond the regular eye-level space that is allocated for framed work. Installed at Root Division in 2010.
